This statement covers the website at empireroofingbath.co.uk. It explains the standard we are working to, the parts of the site that may not yet be fully accessible, and what to do if something does not work for you. If you cannot use any part of the site, you can always reach us by phone, email or WhatsApp instead.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content easier to use for people with a wide range of disabilities, including people who are blind or partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing, or who have motor, cognitive or learning difficulties.
In building the site, we have worked to:
- keep text and background colours at a contrast ratio that meets level AA;
- use a logical heading structure on every page so screen reader users can move around quickly;
- give meaningful images a text description, and hide purely decorative ones from screen readers;
- make menus, buttons and links usable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline;
- let text be enlarged up to 200 percent without content being lost;
- write in plain English and explain trade terms such as flashing or valley the first time they appear.
Known limitations
Some parts of the site come from other providers, and we cannot control all of their code:
- The enquiry form comes from an outside provider and is embedded in our pages, so some screen readers may announce it as a separate frame.
- Area maps use map tiles from OpenStreetMap. The towns we cover are also listed in text on our areas we serve page, so you do not need the map to find out whether we work near you.
- Photographs and diagrams of roofs carry text descriptions, but fine detail in a diagram may be easier to understand if we talk you through it.
We review the site when we add new pages or features and fix problems as we find them.
Other ways to contact us
If the website does not work for you, these routes all reach the same people:
- phone 01225 285181;
- email info@empireroofingbath.co.uk;
- WhatsApp, using the button shown on every page, which lets you send a text, voice note or photo.
If you need information from the site in a different format, such as a larger print copy of our terms and conditions or a quotation read through over the phone, ask and we will do our best to provide it. The same applies on site: tell us if you need us to explain survey findings in a particular way.
Reporting a problem
If you find something on the site that is hard to use, please tell us by email. Let us know the page address, what you were trying to do and, if relevant, the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. We will reply and tell you what we plan to do about it.
The Equality Act 2010 requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage. If you are not happy with our response, our complaints procedure explains the next steps, and the Equality Advisory and Support Service can give free advice.
