Empire Roofing Bath carries out roof installation, replacement, repair and maintenance for homes and commercial buildings, and we make roofs safe after leaks and storm damage. We have no public premises. We come to you, and you reach us by phone on 01225 285181, by WhatsApp or through the enquiry form.
Who we are
Bath is a demanding city to roof well. Behind the stone parapets of its terraces sit lead-lined gutters you cannot see from the street. Mansards, the double-pitched roofs with a steep lower slope that often holds dormer windows, need care at every junction. Natural slate, clay tile and stone tile all appear, sometimes on the same building. Repairs done in the wrong material, or with cement where lime belongs, tend to cause the next problem.
So our approach starts from what is already there. Natural slate stays slate. A stone-tiled roof is repaired in stone. Lead is replaced in the right code, which is the thickness grade of the sheet, and laid with the drips and rolls the original had. The hidden parts get the same attention as the visible slopes: valleys, flashings (the strips that seal a roof against a wall or chimney), parapet and box gutters, and the timbers underneath.
How we work
Each job follows the same order.
- A free survey. We look at the roof, inside and out where we can, and take photographs so you see what we saw.
- An account of the fault. We tell you what is wrong, why it has happened and whether a repair will last. If repair is the sensible answer, that is what we recommend.
- A fixed price in writing. The figure is agreed before work begins and does not move unless you change the scope.
- The work, then the clear-up. Once the roof is done, scaffolding and debris go, and every skip of old material leaves with us.
- A written guarantee. Our workmanship is covered for 10 years, and the guarantee is set down on paper.
Where a roof is listed or sits in the conservation area, we explain the consent position before you decide anything, and we suggest you confirm the detail with B&NES planning. If the work is notifiable under Building Regulations, we deal with that side so it is signed off properly.
When water is coming in, we prioritise making the roof safe first. The permanent repair follows once the cause is found.
What we do
Our work covers pitched roofing, flat roofing, slate roofing, lead roofing, chimney repairs and gutters, soffits and fascias, along with roof windows, ridge and verge work, conservatory and garage roofs, cleaning and inspections. Commercial clients get the same survey and written price as homeowners. The full list is on the services page.
The area we cover
We cover Bath and everywhere within 30 road miles of the city centre. That takes in every Bath district, from Widcombe to Combe Down, plus towns such as Keynsham, Bradford on Avon, Chippenham, Corsham, Trowbridge, Frome, Radstock and Bristol. The area crosses several council boundaries, so consent and building control can sit with a different council from one town to the next. Our areas we serve page lists every place with its council.
